The scholarship program will primarily support ongoing students from the 125 villages located in the Erular-dominant areas of Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu. The selection of these villages is based on various criteria, including their proximity to educational institutions, the density of the Erular community, the lack of schools and other educational facilities in their vicinity, and other socioeconomic factors contributing to high dropout rates among school and college students. These children are particularly vulnerable to early school/college dropout due to the following reasons. The cost of education is significantly higher compared to the income of families belonging to the Erular Tribe. These expenses encompasses school fees, maintenance costs, insurance, textbooks, uniforms, and stationeries, many of which are required to be paid at the beginning of the school year. It becomes challenging for families, especially those with three or four children, to manage these substantial expenses all at once. 

Policy:

The proposed project is slated to take place across a total of 125 villages situated within the Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts. Specifically, in the Kancheepuram districts. This careful selection process ensures that the project is targeted to benefit and address the needs of the Erular community in these specific villages.

Our volunteers conduct field visits to confirm the socio-economic status of the students and determine whether the candidates truly deserve and have the passion to study further and make the sponsorships more valuable to our donors.
